McAfee takes its shot at Windows Vista

McAfee today continues the public shots taken at Microsoft and Windows Vista by publishing an open letter to computer users stating that Microsoft is increasing your security risk with Windows Vista by not allowing them "Kernel" access.

This strikes me as odd, it is like asking me for the keys to my house so that you can protect me.  I don't want you to have the keys to my house, just like I don't want anyone to have kernel access to my system. This is just silly, not only does giving them this level of access increase my security risk, as hackers would inneviatably have the same access. It will probably leave my system less stable.

Read the letter, and judge for yourself, but it reads like someone whining.

These secruity companies are built off MS having a crappy OS, now that MS tries to make a secure OS, all these companies go crying.  MS gave birth to these companies, and MS will kill them.

Yeah, the only kernel access they should get is to KFC (sanders...)

Three Cheers for McAfee. They want Microsoft to give everyone access to the kernel. Where would their software be today had they never had kernel access in the first place?.. I can't say I agree with everything MS does.. but, I'd have to say to McAfee the same thing that I am told regularly...."Figure it out".. find a different way to make your software work, without opening up more security holes.
