Microsoft launches Sysinternals TechNet site

Sysinternals has officially been assimilated.  A visit now to the sysinternals web site will direct you to its new home on Microsoft TechNet site.  Microsoft has brought over all of the utilities that were available for Microsoft supported platforms.  This means they have done away with the older apps that were designed for MS DOS, etc.

In addition, durning the transition Microsoft decided to take down all the source code to the apps.  The price of turning things over to a much larger company I would suspect.  The official answer is that the number of source code downloads didn't justify to Microsoft the support and possible integration problems.  I think they were just scared.

They have also launched a new application called Process Monitor.  This utility will combines the functionality of the Filemon and Regmon into a real-time registry and process/thread activity monitor. Mark had mentioned this app previously in a Q&A session we had with him before his company got aquired.

Ah, but the true stink is over the fact that none of the source code has made the journey from sysinternals to the technet site...oh well.

IIRC, there was at least one non-windows (i.e. Linux) utils on the old site too.  Dare I guess they met the gulag also  :/

The loss of the source code is a huge shame, big enough to not say oh well...
