It isn't often that a product hits beta when I haven't even heard the codename, but this morning while looking at Mary Jo's post about a new beta called "Tahiti" it happened. So being the kind of person that has to play a little with anything new I quickly jumped to the beta site and downloaded it.
Tahiti, for those like me that don't know, is a new collaborative expericence that Microsoft has in "Pre-Beta". The best way I can describe it after playing with it for about 20 minutes is that it is a cross between Widnows Vista's Meetings Space with the Microsoft hosted Live meeting services. In fact the acceptance you get when you enter the beta is from live meeting.
I think there is alot of potental for this product in the small, ad-hoc meeting spacg. No longer do you have to worry about the details of setting up a quick meeting with a few peers you can simply email or IM them an invite right to the meeting without having to worry about firewall settings, IP address, ports, or any of the other common hang up with collaboration.
If you are intrested in learning more about the product you can visit the Tahiti site below as well as the Microsoft Connect site to get a copy of the pre-beta software.
